Readmission Analytics
The Readmission Analytics section was primarily created for analyzing readmission data with easy-to-use categories to narrow down to patients with a primary payer of Medicare who are over 65. This section allows hospital analysts to easily track readmissions using Clinical Analytics’ CMS Replication measures.
NOTE: The Readmission Analytics section is navigated similarly to the Details section but is limited to readmission measures. See CMS Replication measures for more information about these calculations.
Parameters
In addition to the features described for the Details section, the Readmission Analytics section offers three key customization parameters for your analysis.
| Parameter | Function |

| Report type | Choose between CMS All-Cause Readmissions or CMS Conditions and Procedures. Note that changing the report type may alter or remove settings, measures, and columns. |
| Include CMS Payer Restriction | Click the dropdown arrow to select if you would like to view only patients with Medicare as their primary payer. This is determined by the Payer Group field in your encounter files. |
| Include CMS Age Restrictions | Click the dropdown arrow to select if you would like to view only patients aged 65+ or not. |
Report types
CMS All-Cause Readmissions
This report type limits your measure options to the six hospital-wide readmission cohorts:
- 30 Day All Cause Readmission Rate - Cardio-Respiratory Cohort
- 30 Day All Cause Readmission Rate - Cardiovascular Cohort
- 30 Day All Cause Readmission Rate - Medical Cohort
- 30 Day All Cause Readmission Rate - Neurology Cohort
- 30 Day All Cause Readmission Rate - Surgical Cohort
- 30 Day All Cause Readmission Rate - Roll Up All Cohorts

NOTE: The Roll Up All Cohorts measure is the aggregation of the other five cohorts listed (Cardio-Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Medical, Neurology, and Surgical) and is the measure Clinical Analytics recommends for use as a hospital-wide readmission rate.

This report type limits your measure options to the six condition- and procedure-specific cohorts seen below.
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - AMI Cohort
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - CABG Cohort
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - COPD Cohort
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - Heart Failure Cohort
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - Pneumonia Cohort
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - Stroke Cohort
- 30 Day Readmission Rate - THA/TKA Cohort
